HISTORY BEHIND THE DESIGN OF THE AMERICAN STATE FLAGS
Hat Pro Shop not only carries stylish and fashionable hats for the modern wearer, but we also provide a variety of officially licensed American state flags. Each flag has its own unique design, story and history behind it.
For example, the Texas flag is composed of three colors: blue, white and red. It features a big white star in the middle with a single yellow stripe below it. This design was adopted in 1845 as a representation of the United State's victory over Mexico in the war for texas independence. It symbolizes courage, strength and loyalty to the Lone Star Republic.
The California flag is based on the historic Bear Flag which was raised over Sonoma during the Bear Flag Revolt of 1846. The original bear flag had a red background with a grizzly bear in its center. Today's version contains two bears facing each other while embracing a five-pointed star with thirty-one stripes in between them, representing all 31 states that existed at the time of California's statehood.
The Alabama flag is made up of white stars on a crimson cross set against a deep blue background. These symbols represent Alabama’s Confederate past as well as her Union membership in 1865 when she rejoined the Union after seceding from it during the Civil War.
