DALLAS STARS HISTORY
The Dallas Stars is one of the most successful franchises in ice hockey history and officially became a part of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1993. The team has won two Stanley Cup championships, one President's Trophy, three division championships and six conference titles, making them one of the most successful NHL teams to ever exist.
The team began as an expansion team from Minnesota, where they were known as the North Stars. During their time in Minnesota, they would win two division titles and a conference championship before eventually relocating to Dallas in 1993. Despite being new to the city, the team quickly found success and captured their first Stanley Cup title just seven years later in 1999.
Following that victory, the Dallas Stars have continued to be competitive within their division and across the league, showing strong performances against some of the best teams in the NHL over recent years. This includes a second Stanley Cup victory during the 2015-2016 season when they defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 in games played at home and away.
